  • "We first tackle this problem by ensuring our sewer system has more than enough capacity to function even during heavy rains. We next work with county and state officials on a comprehensive drainage plan for the city. Finally, we work with partners like Mobile Baykeeper to actively repair the damage that has already been done."

  • "Protecting Mobile Bay is essential—not just for our environment, but for our quality of life, property values, and future generations. Over the past five years, we’ve made it a priority to improve our sewer and stormwater systems to reduce runoff and prevent overflows into the Bay. The City has invested approximately $17 million in critical upgrades to our treatment plant, transmission lines, lift stations, and backup systems—all aimed at minimizing environmental risk and building long-term resilience. We’ve also worked closely with ADEM to monitor our progress and ensure we’re meeting the highest standards for water quality and environmental protection. Moving forward, we must remain vigilant—with regular maintenance, continued upgrades, and smart, forward-thinking planning. By staying committed to infrastructure investment, we can meet the needs of our citizens today while doing all we can to protect Mobile Bay."

  • "I think the improvements at the Fairhope Pier are a tremendous asset to our community. In addition to complementing the natural beauty of Mobile Bay, the renovations have improved access, expanded parking, and helped stabilize the seawall—protecting both the shoreline and the infrastructure around it. While construction and renovation can be frustrating at times, I believe the end result is something our entire community will enjoy and benefit from for years to come. This project reflects our city’s commitment to preserving and enhancing public spaces that bring people together."
